First day of Back and Biceps

Hey Guys.  Today is day 31 of my P90X adventure and the workouts for the day were back and biceps and ab ripper x.  Being that this was the first time doing this workout, I am sore!  Also sore from day 29 and 30 still!  I guess the recovery week was really a break!  Anyway, there was nothing too difficult about this workout so I was really able to push myself.  I am still using the door attachment with the bands for my chin-up exercises, but I upped my weight to the blue 45 lb band.  Progress.  I like to doing bicep exercises.  My arms are big, but it’s not all muscle and I would like it to be!  Even though I know most of the fat is covering my triceps!  So I was actually using the green 40 lb band for some of the moves.  Yikes!  I liked it tough!  I did keep my reps in the 12-15 range to avoid bulk, but curling that green band is tough!

GUESS WHAT?!?!?  I did ALL 339 reps in AB RIPPER X!  Yesssssssssss!!!!  I did feel like it was a little difficult today, but I think thats because I was sore from the last two workouts.  But I got through them all!!!  My tummy is my #1 trouble spot so hopefully this will make those troubles go away!!  I know I started out with too much belly fat to end up with a six pack at the end of 90 days, but a smooth flat tummy will just have to do!  Or at least no rolls when I sit would be nice!

My diet is the same.  Nothing new and exciting here.

Tomorrow is Yoga X.  I could use a good stretch!  Although those chutta…..chuttaru….chuttarungas are hard on the arms and shoulders!!

TTYAL!!!

p.s. I’m getting a little bump in my arm! lol!

I have been researching the P90X system for a few weeks. Congratulations on your progress. Is the program hard to follow? Can you break up the workouts into 2 seperate sessions? Finally, do you have to eat 6 times a day?

The reason why I am asking these questions is because I only have about 30 – 45 min to workout in the morning and afternoon. Also, I am teaching from 7:15 – 3:00 Monday – Friday, and I barely have time to eat anything. I would appreciate your thoughts. Thank you.

    Hi Tina,

most of the workouts are about 60 minutes long. Some days you have to do a 60 minute and a 15 minute ab workout which you could probably break up. It might be hard to break up the 60 minute routines because you have to keep moving the whole time, but if you take the time to warm up and cool down on your own before and after each half, it might work. Maybe you could work out in the evening? It’s really hard to motivate yourself to workout if you have a small amount of time to work with.

I have found that eating smaller meals really helps you to loose weight. The first week of this program I was really strict and had three meals a day and two snacks and really stuck to the approved foods list. With the holidays, it was really hard to be exact, so I kinda fell out of a routine for a couple of days. I am back on track now and I make sure I eat every two hours. If I don’t, I end up really hungry at dinner time then eat too much. I don’t think you have to eat 6 times per day, you can spread it out to every three hours if you want. I just eat breakfast late because I do my workout in the morning.

Why don’t you try the program and workout as long as you can. If you can only finish 45 minutes of the DVD, that’s better than nothing right! Yoga is an hour and a half, maybe you can change the schedule a bit and do that one on the weekend!

Let me know what you come up with. I hope it works out for you.

    Hi Erin,

Congratulations. Sounds like you’re doin a fantastic job. I have a question for you… doesn’t the meal plan change once you get to phase II ?

    Erin Reply:

    Hi John,

yes, it does change slightly for the portions approach and are some new recipes for the meal plan. I am choosing to say in Phase I of the nutrition plan so I can loose some more fat. It says in the book that you can follow any phase at any time based on you nutritional level. So I’ll probably do the fat shredder phase for a couple more weeks.
