Day 13

p90x-kenpo-xHello, today is day 13 and the workout was Kenpo X.  I am really starting to like this one!  It’s actually sort of fun to do!  Kinda like your beating someone up!  I am able to keep up with Tony and the rest of the gang pretty well.  I didn’t need any extra breaks, which is a good sign, and I was able to do all the kicks and punches.  Like last week, I used weighted gloves for the first half of the workout where most of the punches are.  After taking them off, my arms felt light as a feather.  I did my workout late today, but hey, it’s Saturday.  I have house stuff to do during the day and I do like to sleep in once in a while.

So this is the end of week two.  I have new photos and a video to post as soon as I find my camera cord to hook it up to the computer!  I weighed myself and I am at 150 for a total of 5 pounds lost so far.  Not bad for two weeks.  I wasn’t actually expecting to lose any weight within the first two weeks.

My diet is the same……..zzzzzzz………but have been drinking coffee this past week.  Maybe that’s why I only lost 1 lb.  I only drink on cup if any per day, so I didn’t think that would make a huge difference.  I do use non dairy creamer and a tiny bit of sugar, so that could be the problem.  Or I am just reading too much into this?  Can 1 cup of coffee per day really make a difference?  I am still only eating one serving of carbs per day, which is really important for weight loss.  You know what, I’m not focusing on what’s important.  I have been told that you cannot totally measure your results on the scale because when you are doing resistance workouts, you will be gaining muscle and muscle weighs more than fat.  So I guess I just need to chill about the coffee and go back to tea!

I’ll be back tomorrow!  Not a rest day for me, but I will let you all know how my practice went!

p.s.  Sorry about the photos and video not being up, I misplaced my USB!

    Erin,

I used to drink 4 to 6 pepsi’s a day to only have 2 in the past 11 months. I drink nothing but water. Keep up the good work and stick with it. It does work. I shared my comments on Day 2 of your program.

    Good Luck!!

    Hi Tracy!

After my first child, I drank a ton of Pepsi every day! It is sooo addicting! Even right before I started this program, I had at least one every day. Now I too only drink water and plain hot tea. If I drink coffee, I am going black!

Thanks for the encouragement! Hope to hear from you again soon!

I am curious about the nutrition aspect of this program. I am a strict vegetarian (aka vegan) I am wondering if it is possible to do this program without consuming animal proteins. I am very interested in doing this program…. but I’m nervous too. Good luck, I’ll be following this blog. :)

    Hello Gigi,

I did see a page in the Nutrition Guide for Vegetarians but there are some animal products included on that list of substitutions as well. For this program, you need about 5 servings of protein per day so as long as you are getting it from somewhere, you should be ok. You are supposed to have two servings of dairy too, but I am sure you know where to get calcium and vitamins elsewhere. For you, I would do the portions approach so you can choose what you eat. All you have to do is have the proper amount of proteins, fruit, vegetable, etc. per day. I don’t think it matters where you get it from as long as the foods are healthy.

Thanks for stopping by and good luck to you too!!

I killed it today…only having to take 1 break and that was in fear of a major cramp. My hubby re-joined me in my workout journey today, hooray. I keep reading about your scale #’s…I watch the scales, but I have always been more about size (clothing and body sculpting).

Are you ready to jump back on the train….Not that you really jumped off?

    Hi Renee,

you have a good point. I was getting wrapped up on the numbers but adding muscle can totally throw that off.

Isn’t it nice to have your man by your side working out :)

I am ready!! I am just waiting for the 90dayreview masters to tell me what I can do!!! I could have probably started a round 2 on my own, but I want to see if they want me to do Insanity instead. I would love to try it! They just got back from vacation, so I should have answer this week!

I have been exercising all week though! I did the gym twice and I had two practices and one competition so no rest week for me!

    Hey Erin,

I like Kenpo X a lot too! Its a high intensity workout which is fun. I do not think 1 cup of coffee will make a difference. 1 teaspoon of sugar is about 15 cals and I do not think coffee itself has any calories since it just water and bean extract. I may be wrong though.

    Hey Sabil,

I am a HUGE coffee drinker, even wile doing P90X. That’s just something that I can’t give up. If I don’t have a cup of coffee at certain times during the day, I just feel HORRIBLE! It’s a quality of life thing!!!!!! One cup with a little sugar shouldn’t hurt. Would I have gotten better results if I didn’t drink 3 cups a day??? Perhaps…..but I did get good results that I am pretty happy with!!!!
