Hello, this is day one of the P90X. I already took the fitness test and passed of course. I also took all my measurements and took my before pictures which will be up soon. Day one is Chest and Back. This will probably be one of the hardest workouts for me in this program. I can’t do that many pushups and I can’t do ANY chin-ups with the bar (as of now). So I used the bands with the door kit for the chin-up exercises. I was able to get in 20-25 good reps, rather than none or one crappy one on the bar. Hopefully, I will eventually be able to use the chin-up bar and get a few good reps out of it. As far as the push-ups go, I did 5-10 which isn’t bad, but I do hope to get better with that. I thinks it’s important to set your goals before each exercise like they tell you in the video, because trying to keep up with them might leave you a little disappointed. Then the next time around, you can try and beat your old goal with a new one. I’m feeling a little sore, but I had a recovery drink and I think it really helps with that.
As far as my diet, I had a cup of oatmeal for breakfast, which is my one carb that I am allowed for the whole day!! I then did my workout and had a recovery drink after. I actually skipped my morning snack because I was running a little late with my workout. For lunch, I had about 6 oz. boneless, skinless turkey breast (yes, from Thanksgiving…..we have so much left over!!), and 2 cups of cooked carrots. My afternoon snack will be a P90X protein bar and I will fill in the rest of the blanks for at dinner.
Be back tomorrow!
My name is Erin and I am in desperate need to get into shape! Time and motivation are the big issues for me. I am 26 years old and a mother of two. I work 40 hours a week so of course finding the time to go to the gym can be difficult, especially when my kids want to go everywhere with me! My fiancé is really helpful and he does encourage me to workout, but he is busy with work, the kids, and trying to stay in shape himself.
In my younger years, I was a cheerleader in high school. I was pretty athletic and in good shape. I was always a couple of pounds over the “correct” weight for my height, but I guess I am just solid. Most of the girls my height, 5’2”, were around 115 lbs, I was 122 lbs senior year.
Of course when I went to college, I gained 10 lbs. Having kids just sent me over the top. After two, I am now a staggering 155lbs! I am actually still involved in cheerleading, which may come to a surprise to some of you, but it’s more of a competitive team. There is a lot of tumbling, jumping, and stunting. None of that rah-rah cheering at basketball game stuff. I also like to play softball in the summer, although this past season, I broke my ankle sliding into third base. Probably because my body is weak!
Anyway, I am looking forward to working out with the P90X and hopefully I will get great results. I will definitely try to “bring it” as they say!!
Dear readers,
As the admin of 90dayreview.com I have seen the ups and downs of this blog. When this site was launched over 2 years ago the goal was to give people an honest daily review of the P90X. Brian didn’t just want people to see his daily progress but he also wrote in a way that let you into his life. The P90X is a difficult program and the struggles of life can make it all the more strenuous. By writing about how the P90X is a part of life, you the reader can begin to build a picture of how it might be when you start the program yourself.
When Brian concluded his workout and thus stopped blogging the site became inactive. After months had passed I found another person to take his spot. Unfortunately having not ensured this person could pass the pre-fit-test he was forced to stop after only a few days and the blog sat dormant once again.
During the summer of 2008 a very good friend and I were talking about working out and eating healthy. For as long as I’ve known him he’s been an active guy, I didn’t really think he’d want to workout after getting home seeing how he’s moving around all day as a mechanic. Tom has a great personality and he sticks with what he starts. I remember thinking to myself he’d be the perfect person to write for 90dayreview. I casually asked him if he’d like to try the P90X and blog about it. To my surprise he said yes. Through a partnership with ExtremeBodyWorkout we were able to get him all the gear and supplements he needed to complete the program. Tom wrote about his work, family, eating habits, the P90X… he let us into his life. He posted daily pictures and with a little help from some friends we were able to make some killer p90x videos. Tom had tremendous results during his first round of P90X, check out the final video for yourself. You can also go back and see his daily progress on our archives page: P90X reviewers.
Tom went on to do 2 more rounds of the P90X but by the end of the second round comments began to trickle off and his following began to slowly disappear. I know for myself I like “new” and variety so I can only imagine that’s what you want too. I found somebody who wants to get into shape. Starting next Monday Erin will be doing the P90X. She’ll be writing every day and posting weekly pics. I’m going to try to rally my friends so we can do some videos. She’ll be posting an about me post over the weekend so look for that.
I want to make this site better than it already is and this is where I need your help. 90dayreview is a blog which typically follows one featured reviewer but I’ve been thinking about making it about everybody. Should I continue to have one featured reviewer every 90 days or should I alter the site to handle a few people at one time? I was thinking of running a contest every 90 days to determine the next reviewer. The winner would receive a P90X package which would include the program, gear and nutritional supplements to get the job done. What do you think? At the height of this blog the comments and questions were endless, do you think I should add a forum to this site? Comments could still be left for each individual post but questions could be asked in the forum. It might be easier to find answers to your questions. I really want this site to be the most beneficial for you. So please feel free to leave a comment with your suggestions.
Regards,
Tim
I’m putting a call out there to anybody who would like to review the P90X. If you’re interested in writing for this blog let me know. Thanks.
I just got back into the p90x I had don back and biceps my body 2 days later is now feeling the result of being out of the loop for a few weeks I took my last day as X stretch after doing yoga it helped my get loose so I wanted to still relax and feel good so I opted for X stretch which for me was 2 days of relaxation, dont get me wrong when you do P90X it can be tough so when you do these much more tonned down workouts it fells real good to do it that way. I was able to do another round of P90X also I realize I had taken some time off this round but sometimes things do and can happen to you. I want everyone to also know that P90X is very good for your body. P90X is excellent it is the most fantastic worko your body could possibly want. I will be still getting myself back on track and eating healthy. Thanks and see everybody out in the P90X world!!!!!
Yoga for all the P90Xers out there and all the folks who are looking into getting the P90X and getting ripped and just having a great way of life to fell great and enjoy life. Yoga plays a real major part in all this hard work. You need the yoga and can benifit aton from it. Yoga helps you out even when you are working and doing well for yourself all week. A day with yoga refresh’s your body. I have been able to do the moves and excercises every week is a change. A good change, people with body acks and pains if you start doing yoga it could and probably will help you out a bunch. It also leaves me real relaxed afterwards. With yoa you will also need to just lay back and relax. A few moves I have actually felt myself melting into the ground cause I fell so relaxed. 1 hour and 30 minutes is alot for yoga but throughout the time you are in and out of moves, just feel it an dlet yourself go with the flow!!!!!! Thanks.
Alright folks after a few weeks off from surgery I have recovered I had taken some time off so I fell out a few weeks here but I still have 3 days left to go. I had not really done any work outs this past few weeks that I had been out. I am also going to bechanging up jobs within the next 2 weeks. I found a better job closer to my home. I had started off my workout today really drained but I kept up my pace. It can really happen after jumping back into your workouts after being out for awhile. I was using my power blocks for my excercises. Ab ripper was especially hard cause not working out my ab’s for these past few weeks I struggled, with some of the moves and I had my reps to an alright pace but I did have to pause to take a small break here an there. I can say that my back feels much better today since I have worked out and I really enjoyed getting my workout done. I also plan on eating healthy again cause we all know how it can be to fall out of sink. But with the P90X program its all about bringing it and doing well!!!! Let’s rock!!!!
