Kept up the trend of good eating today. I enjoyed my breakfast from the P90X Nutrition Guide of a whole wheat english muffin with peanut butter. It was good, and I didn’t expect it to be, because up until now I’ve never had a whole wheat english muffin! Decided to give up my creamer. I normally drink coffee with creamer, no sugar, but now I drink it black or add some skim milk. When I woke up this morning my quads were killing me. I was walking at a slower pace than usual at work thanks to last night’s workout being so ferocious. My arms STILL hurt from the OTHER DAY’S workout as well. When I came home from work I saw that I still had some leftover beers in my fridge. I was soooooo tempted to kick one back. But I’ll save them for another day. Today’s workout was Arms, Shoulders, and Ab Ripper X. It was very hard on my arms. I used the resistance bands for my sets as opposed to weights. Ab Ripper X seemed harder today than it was on Monday. I felt myself taking a few more breaks than usual. My legs and lower abs were still recovering from Plyometrics so it made it more difficult.
To top it all off, I was distracted from my workout because my kids kept running in and out of the room and in front of the camera. They wanted to do the workout too but they were really a pain more than a help LOL! I finished both workouts very exhausted tonight. I’ll definately be ready for bed soon because I’m really tired and very sore. See you here tomorrow.

Hey man, good to see you are posting your thoughts. Me and my friend started the same day you did. So its cool to see somebody elses opinion of it. Keep at it.
Hi Josh,
Thanks for checking out my blog. I’m glad there’s other people who are actually following right along with me. How are you guys holding up? I’m pretty sore today. Let me know how you guys are doing and check back soon I’ll have my weekly recap video up for this week probably around Wednesday. Later on!
I found your site today and thought I’d drop a line. I’m on day 8, just a little ahead of you. I’ll stop in and check-in on you though.
Two sites I can recommend that I use:
http://forums.teambeachbody.com/groupee/forums/a/tpc/f/5082996357/m/1941033031
http://www.weightloss-hq.biz/weight-loss-forum/p90x-forum.html
Also, just one small recommendation - you may not want to take pictures every single day. You will probably see very little progress daily and therefore you’re likely to get disapointed and maybe even quit. Take them once a month, or no more then every two weeks, then you can really see the progress!
Good luck!
Marcus!

Marcus,
Thanks for the links and the advice. I hear what you are saying about the daily pics but for me it’s the exact opposite. Each day I take my pics it’s another notch on my belt. Thanks for dropping a line check back in with me and feel free to share some of your ups and downs with the rest of us here over the next 90 days!
Hi Tom:
I just received my P90X in the mail and will be starting Tuesday.
I am excited about the program, however, I am NOT looking forward to giving up wine for a while(laughing at/sympathizing with your wishing for a beer!)
Thanks for having the guts to post your progress. Like you, I have always stayed in pretty good shape but wanted to challenge myself and look and feel the best that I can. I will be about a week behind you and hope that we both superheroes when Christmas rolls around.
All the best,
Michelle
PS I could not find ANY women doing this on the net!!
Hey Michelle,
Yeah cutting down on the alcohol during P90X is just something you have to do. I’m not saying I won’t have a couple drinks here and there but I won’t be going overboard. Even though you are a week behind me, we should be doing the same set of workouts at the same time for a while, until the next phase. I’m going strong so far and really like the program a lot. You are right, there are not too many women posting their progress with P90X online. My wife is doing the
10 Minute Trainer workout maybe I can convince her to do P90X with me when she’s ready. Then we can post together. Good luck with it! Come back and let me know how your first week goes. Later on.
I am still very sore from plyometrics. Last nights work out is my favorite so far. I really enjoyed it. I was able to finish the whole video and didn’t even feel sick. Then there was Ab Ripper X, man I still have a hard time getting through it. It is so intense but I did better then the last time so I am see progress.
That’s how you do it Paul. Just keep pressing play, and keep bringing it!!!!
Tom,
Just want to thank you for your daily blog, especially today. I’ve been following you for a few weeks now. I got my DVD’s about that time but due to a death in the family kinda pushed back starting things until after the service. Anyway, today is day#3 for me and holy cow I am sore…so much that I am trying to figure out how to get thru today’s workout, but then I popped over here to see how you were on day #3 and it looks like you felt the same…so it was a little inspiration just to push thru it later today. Also borrowed your idea of using a “countdown” on my blog to keep me motivated. So by the time I turn 40 I will be about where you are today…its exciting because I can see the difference in your body - looking good. Thanks.
Hi Lisa, I’m sorry to hear about the death in your family. I very happy that my blog is helping you get going with your journey with P90X. Yup the first few days, really the first 2 weeks are a real challenge to stick with it. Keep bringing it and stop back and let me know how you’re doing!!!!!
-Tom
day 3, not to bad day. still sore. but the work out helped me feel better. still not used to the weights but learning. I felt i did my best, could have done better, but still new. The abs were better today, i could actually do some sit up style things tonight. I was pretty happy. 12 hour work day, so its 930 now. little tired. but off tomm for some free time and the yoga class. hopefully it will strech me out good.
Good job Joshua, keep at weeks 1 and 2 are the toughest. You get through and you’ll be on track!
Hi Tom,
I’m on day 3 today. I read the first 10 - 15 days of you blog before I started and have found myself checking back everyday before I start my workout just to get an idea of what to expect. Your current photos are a big inspiration too. Lookin’ good man. Keep up the good work and Thanks for the help!!!
John, thanks for the complement! Yup I have been looking back to my first couple days pics and I can definitely see a big difference P90X ROCKS!!!! I’m glad my blog has helped you get going with the program. Feel free to stop in at any time with questions you might have.
I’m pretty sure I’ll be doing ANOTHER round of P90X when I finish this week so I’ll be here!!! Good luck and BRING IT!!!!!
Hey there, have been following your blog as i was doing a round of Power 90 ramping up for p90x, saw some great results even from the p90, so i’m pretty pumped for whats going to happen with the X, noticed in your last post you said your pretty sure you’ll do another round, i just started on sunday, today is my shoulders and arms and aRX day number 3 so i was reading what you’re experiance was. i’ve found the ab ripper the first day to just be almost impossible, i’ve been doign the power 90 ab ripper 200 and just able to complete it all, going from that to all the new moves i find really hard, i think more just getting my body to strike the poses and balance, i feel i’m falling over alot doing some of the positions.
also i find that the pull ups kill me right now im having to do all the modified, Chair assisted pull ups, hopefully that changes. over time.
Hey Marty,
Well, P90X is not easy that’s for sure. I’ve never done Power 90 but I can imagine it’s a tough change up over to the P90X.
I say this to a lot of people that stop by. The first 2 weeks are brutal. Hard to do everything just right, tough to stick with it and finish the workouts each day. You wake up every morning sore as HELL!!!! But the good news is your body will get used to this abuse
Your balance will improve, your form will improve. Don’t feel bad about modifying the moves, I’ve done it we’ve all done it from time to time. Just start off small set your goals to be realistic and meet the goals. Then you can steadily increase your reps as you go.
I don’t even have a Chin-up bar I use the bands and the upgrade kit for the door attachment.
http://www.extremebodyworkout.com/p90x-products/resistancebandUGKit.php
Try just lassoing your resistance bands over your Chin-up bar and sitting down on the floor to do the modified resistance band pullups.
Just stick with it and keep pressing play!
