P90X Reviews: Day 2 Plyometrics

P90X Dat 2

P90X Day 2

Had my strawberry and banana protein shake for breakfast. I had a P90X Recovery Drink for my morning snack. For lunch I had homemade, low sodium vegetable soup. My afternoon snack was 3 lowfat cheese sticks. 3 cheese sticks seemed like a hell of a lot but I ate them anyway. Later on that afternoon I got a call from my wife. Our van was towed because she parked on the wrong side of the street during a street cleaning day. $170 later she got the van back. After all that she came back to the shop to make sure there was no damage done to the van when it was towed. Like I said before, I’m a mechanic and I wanted to make sure they didn’t bugger up my front end. To top it all off I only made a few hours at work. Being a flat rate technician can sometimes be tricky, that’s why you have to constantly being moving. You don’t make no money sitting on your ass. I did notice leaving work today that my upper body actually strated feeling sore. I can only assume this was from yesterday’s workout. I usually do a lot with my arms and back at work, but this was a different kind of hurt. So after ending that day we decided it would be good to treat ourselves to a little Applebee’s. No one felt like going home and making a big meal and doing dishes. But don’t worry, I ordered the Weight Watchers Garlic Herb Chicken Breast with broccoli and some small red potatoes. I ordered water instead of soda too. I’m a usual diet soda drinker on a daily basis. I figured water would be better for me and now with starting this program I’ve decided to cut way back on the soda. Perhaps treat myself a few times a week to a glass.

Came home after dinner and waited an hour and a half and then started day 2 which was Plyometrics. WOW!!!! Let me tell you something, you’re constantly moving. You’re legs pretty much don’t stop jumping and moving for the entire workout (other than a few small water breaks, but you’re still supposed to move around during those so you’re heart rate doesn’t drop). Even in the first 10 minutes of the workout I was already sweating and breathing heavily SOME ADVICE: KEEP BREATHING, TAKE THE BREAKS, KEEP DRINKING You’re going to need it as this is very intense. During the entire workout I was sweating a ton. When they changed the routine up (about every 30 secs to a minute) I had to keep wiping my face because I was drenched in sweat. Towards the end when you’re doing the one legged cross jump, my knees couldn’t take it because they’re not too sturdy thanks to years of mechanic work. I am really proud of myself though because I made it all the way through. And you’ll be hearing from me tomorrow as I start my day 3. And I definately got the recovery drink after the workout!……………AND A SHOWER!

OMG…You were so right, this work out is killer. Towards the end I thought I was going to pass out because my muscles couldn’t take it anymore. Like you I had to wipe the sweat off my face every 30 seconds because the workouts were that intense. 30 seconds doesn’t seem like a lot but when they are back to back, they kick your ass.

Plyo is a killer especially when you are first starting off. Way to hang in there Paul!!

  3. 3 Paul

As the day goes by I am stiffing up and my legs are killing me.

  4. 4 Paul

Does Plyo get easier to do later on in the program, when you become more fit?

  5. 5 Tom & Jen

It all gets better and better as you go. The first week is really hard, and 2nd week is tough too but you start to build up strength. It’s always going to be a workout though :)

I’m really not into yoga. Thinking about skipping it or replaceing it w/ a cardio workout. I need some advice!

Well you’re not the only one. Others have mentioned it too. I look at like this, it’s in this program for a reason. The thing that you get out of it is balance, and concentration. It forces you to pay attention to getting good form and you have really stay with it to keep your form for those periods of time. Yoga helps you in that area and that helps with all the other workouts I think. -Tom

Plyo is definitely a killer, but it feels so good! I noticed a huge difference my third time around. By my third week I noticed obvious results in my performance level, stamina and appearance.

As far as yoga goes, do it! It provides that stretch that your muscles are really going to need and don’t take it lightly either. I sweat like crazy every time I do it and I felt like I had much more control over my body as I got further into the program.

I think the most important thing of this entire program has to be the diet though. Stick with the diet and you won’t regret it.

day 2, woke up soreeeee!! Wow! But I got down stairs at 8:30 for round 2. That was a workout!! It took a little longer than I thought, a lot of pausing so that I wouldnt chuck! But I made it. Hard to wash your hair when your arms are trembling and your legs want to charlie hourse. But off to work. Hopefully chasing cars down trying to sell something will keep my mind off of taco bell and soreness. Day 3 Tommorow.

    Day 2
Wow! still a sore from yesterday. I was going strong till before the half way mark then I started to get dizzy and my legs were burning, so I had to modify the rest of the the way. I figured as long as I kept moving with them in someway.

I previewed the video the night before so I can get prepared mentally for whats in store for me. My son and daughter got excited and asked to join me in the morning making me promise to wake them up. My son couldnt get up.

Was really fun with my wife and my baby girl joining in.
Hope I will be able to continue during the work week and doing it in the evening instead of the mornings.

Thanks for having your page up I loof forward to day 3

Day 2 is in the books and the plyo KICKED my ass!! My shirt was completely drenched with sweat by the time I was done. I drank A LOT of water throughout the work out and something tells me my legs are going to be burning for a while. Proud i actually did the whole workout and I’m actually looking forward to day 3!!!

Thanks for the postings Tom. I just finished Day 2 Plyo. Wow is about all I can say. Oh yeah, and ouch!!! My abs are fluttering/twitching from yesterday, tomorrow scares me.

  16. 16 Mike

Good postings. I also just finished day 2 plyo. Absolutely killer and I had to pause several times to get my heart rate back under control. I regularly run 5 miles, but this is way beyond that. It is actually a relief to read how tough it was for others as well and some other posts that it will get better. Good luck to all…

Hey Tom – great website, thanx for posting this. I just received my P90x a couple of days ago. I finished the plyo workout last night for the first time and WOW. What at workout. My whole body is sore – it hurts when I try to get out of the chair! Is that bad, is that normal? Oh well, 88 days left. Keep up the good work everyone!

I have to say that I’m experiencing this perfect combination of excitement/dread reading through these postings and with my first day of the program coming up on Tuesday. As hard as this program seems to be…the more people tell me about how they barfed after the first day or how they couldn’t wash themselves properly because of jelly arms…the more I want to try this. Masochism? Maybe, but with my wedding coming up in July this is exactly what I need to get my ass in shape. Thanks for all the postings!

Hey I appreciate this play by play…I am going to start up my P90X experience today when I get off of work. I’m getting Married in 4 months so it’s just enough time to impress the future Mrs. I have been seeing the infomercial a lot on tv and it’s time to stop watching and thinking and start doing and achieving. I am stoked to get my butt kicked with the work out and get in shape…maybe track my results online too. Keep it up and thanks for the insite to my future!!!

My girlfriend and I just started P90X Classic on Saturday, starting with Chest & Back / AB Ripper… and I thought Chest was hard; The Ab Ripper was killer! I looked like a fish flopping out of the water. Sunday we did Plyometrics. I made it all but the last 12 minutes.. before I nearly chucked. Mondays (today) is our rest day, due to my firefighter training, so I had to rearrange the schedule a tad. We are following the diet pretty close, but not perfect. I work 12 hour days.. so if it calls for a hot lunch, I have to skip that and just eat a whopping protien bar and shake. However, we are following the breakfast and supper. I am following the golden rules: no food 3 hours before bed, and I’m not eating 3 hours before work out… to burn fat, not carbs and calories. I didn’t get the P90X brand suppliments. I went with other brand amino acids, glutamine, and protiens from Max Muscle. I’m taking Mega Man sport (half dozes) too. Good God am I sore! I was in the Army for 6 years, lifted in college, am am generally fit as a firefighter.. but this is working muscles that apparently don’t get worked in normal workouts. My supporting muscles are the sorest. Bless you dumb-bells! So far, I have no reasons to doubt that P90X rocks!
    I’ll keep you guys posted.
