Yesterday was my 21st birthday, and despite my resistance my friends got me the most drunk I have ever been in my life. As a gift to myself I did not workout today. I don’t even think my body would let me. I don’t think Tony Horton would be happy with me. But this shows that what it is like for an imperfect human being doing the P90X. I am the one that has to live with the results. I am happy for completely skipping today because of a hang over? No, not at all. But I will I wake up tomorrow and bring it? Yes. I hope all you reading this are not mad at me. Part of what encourages me is knowing that there are people out there that are reading this for inspiration. I promise to be good till the end of the 90 days. You only turn 21 once.

Today I mixed things up a little bit. Normally I go through the entire P90X plyometrics straight through and peter out towards the end. P90X breaks Plyo up into sections of 4 moves that repeat once. So what I did today was to go through the entire plyo without the repeats – so there was always a fresh exercise. This allowed me to really bring it on the later exercises which I am usually too tired to do with full energy. Then at the end I immediately went out side for a run. I probably ran about three miles. This felt good to mix things up a bit. Next time I may do the Plyometrics in reverse.
Btw, today is my 21st birthday!

Chest and Back is back. This was the very first P90X workout I ever did and I hadn’t done it over a month because it is not used in Phase II. What a treat it was to re-visit it. Chest and Back basically alternates between pull-up moves and push-up moves. Very basic stuff that really works you out hard.
Since doing this P90X last I have upgraded some of my hardware. First of all I finally figured out a way to put up a chin-up bar in my dorm room. The P90X chin-up bar, which works really well, could not be used because I have no wall space next to my doors. I really feels great to have a bar hanging there. Even on days when I don’t need to I’ll through a few pull-ups in if I am bored. Also, I got some heavier weights. On the lawnmowers and heavy pants I was my reps got up to around 20 which is way too much. I am trying to build muscle so I should be maxing out at 8-10. I still need to upgrade further because I was maxing out around 15.
In all it was a joy to get back to this workout. I could immediately tell how much stronger I have gotten.

Today I took a day off from the P90X. Also, my parents, aunt, and grandmother paid me a surprise visit for my birthday which is on Tuesday. They took me out to dinner and I really went nuts ordering. I got everything I wanted. It was a nice little reward for all the hard work I have been putting into the P90X thus far. OK, fine, it was free food and I couldn’t resist. It just means I need to get my butt in gear for the last third. With enough discipline I will be able to make a lot of strides at the end here.

During yoga today I had a few realizations. One is that yoga is great and I should do it more often then the P90X prescribes. I think that doing yoga releases a lot of negative energy from your body. I was reading someone else’s review of the P90X and they mentioned how when they did yoga for the first time they got really angry for no reason, as if the body postures released a lot of negative thoughts. Most of the time I suffer from a modest level of anxiety that can create depression if I am not careful. I think it is mostly due for my mind being cloudy as well as being uncentered. Yoga really gets me centered and keeps my body soft and limber to handle the day. From now on I am going to do a 10-20 min version of the P90X Yoga X every morning and see how it goes.

I really rocked this one again. Like I said a few days ago I really like this workout. All the moves in this P90X workout are really new to me. The prisoner pushups really kill me, and so does the Planc runs. This one possibly gets me sweating the most of all the workouts. I think it is because no part of your body is spared from getting a workout. This could possibly be the ultimate P90X workout – although Plyo does kick butt too. Its fun to feel my muscles thicken in my mid section, it is a feeling I have never had before.

I have usually been skipping the X Stretch on Sundays to take a day of rest from the P90X. I do remember though when I first started P90X I did X stretch and instructed everyone to do it because it is really helpful for the rest of the P90X workouts. Well, I did not take my own advice and now I regret it. Because X stretch is incorporated into the rest week I did it as my workout. I felt so good afterwards, almost like I had gotten a nice massage. Stretching can be very painful, but it releases a lot of tension and will keep your body limber. My body definitely thanked me for choosing to do it.

So my blog has made it on the first page of google for the search term P90X. Since then I have seen an influx of visitors. I thought that I would take a moment to say hello to all new visitors. I would say that doing the P90X and keeping up with this blog has been one of the best choices of my life. I have already felt my body transform and it has improved many parts of my life. I simply feel more comfortable and confident in my body. Before, I would try to hide my body instead of feel proud to show it off. Also, my energy levels have been really high and I am more productive with school work. My mind feels sharper. Additionally, I find myself in better moods, often when I am feeling a little depressed it is because I haven’t done my P90X workout for the day. After the workout I get all those good brain chemicals and a big smile comes on my face for the rest of the day.
I encourage people to take a look through all the past days, or pick a few days to see the progress. I have uploaded a photo for everyday. I think this is helpful because you can see what the real progress with the P90X looks like. You will know when you can expect to see results and also how gradual the change is. I also hope is show the amount of commitment it takes to do a program like this. Those before and after pictures sometimes make people feel like they will get instant results. You will only get the results if you work really hard, stay committed, and bring it, everyday. It takes courage and discipline. It can be done! This is my first time staying with a workout routine, and I am doing it, and I am experiencing all the benefits. I recommend P90X to everyone. Get going!
