As Tony says at the end of the YOGA X workout – “It’s just oms”. For some people the ‘new agey’ aspect of Yoga is unpalatable. However, I would say that this workout is by far the most extreme workout so far in the P90X.
Last week I could barely pull off any of the exercises. But today I felt strong and stable during nearly all the poses. I attribute this to the fact that it was the second time through and my body knew what to expect from each move. I also feel like the strength I have gained over the last 11 days was a big help as well. Overall I was stronger and flexible. That is the great thing about the P90X workouts is that they are constantly building on each other. By the time you get around to same workout routine you have improved in nearly every area.

AHHHH YES! Shoulders and Arms we meet again. What I noticed about the this P90X workout is that you the focus of each exercise is on one muscle. All your attention and energy is on just one muscle as opposed to the other P90X workouts where you are engaging many different muscle groups in one exercise. I think that it makes the workout more manageable. I found myself working really really hard and sweating profusely but without feeling overwhelmed. With the Yoga X full body poses and stretches I feel strain across my entire body and its harder to withstand then focusing on just one muscle.
I feel great and I can feel my body changing. Even walking around campus I have more of a spring in my step. I feel like the photos aren’t showing much progress and that they all look the same, which is odd because I feel like my body has completely transformed. I wish there was a way to take a snapshot of my moods every day because I have been on cloud nine for the last 10 days. I feel confident, energetic, and happy, must be all the seratonin I pump to my brain during the workouts.

So I got my bones up eXtremely early today (Power 90 Extreme style) to do the Plyometrics workout. I stopped it a bit short because I still didn’t give myself enough time. And, I was fortunate that today was a cardio style workout, which means no Ab Ripper X and therefore less time to complete. Looking back to yesterday I realize how much time P90X can take out of the day. Because I also take pictures and post on this blog the entire ordeal can take almost 2 hours. However, the increase in energy and happiness throughout the day is clearly worth it. Would you rather have 16 unhappy hours in a day or 14 extremely happy hours in a day (plus getting ripped). The choice is obvious. P90X is here to stay.

WHOA. So today was the start of week 2. I’ve only been using P90X for 8 days but somehow it seems like a lifetime. Today also is the first time that I have repeated an exercise. When I did Chest and Back on the first day it did kick my butt. I figured that the next time around I would become so strong that I would complete all the push-ups and pull-ups with ease — I was wrong. I made only slight improvements – but improvements none the less. I was only able to add about 2 reps to each push-up exercise. But if I add 2 reps every week I will be in great shape.
I also did the workout out later at night between 8pm and 930pm. I just got back to college and I am going to need to figure out the best time everyday to continue with the P90X. I think I prefer early in the morning because these workouts really provide a jolt of happiness that is fun to carry through the day. Really, the thing I have enjoyed the most about the workouts thus far is not how strong I feel, or how ripped I think i will get, but rather how happy it makes it. I simply puts me in a great mood everyday. Being a great mood makes me smile more, talk to others more easily, and that has many great benefits.
So, I just convinced myself, I will have to work out in the mornings. For the other P90Xers out there, what times seem to work best for you? Does anyone have success doing it later in the evening?

The P90X gives you an option to rest today, but that isn’t too extreme is it? So of course I did the recommended X Stretch workout.
At the beginning and end of every other P90X workout Tony leads you through various stretches and this program was the aggregation of all of those. In fact it felt like an easy version of the Yoga X workout. I am glad that they devoted an entire workout to stretching. The first day I did the Ab Ripper X many of my muscles cramped up, especially my legs, and that was frustrating because my lack of flexibility prevented me from getting the most out of the workout. My hope is that more workouts like Stretch X will help me to feel more comfortable during all the various exercises.
(I just moved back to college and hence the different background. I sort of like the brick background instead of the white sheet that i used before, but I might start using the white sheet again because I think I am going to cover that wall with some posters.)

I had a blast today. The P90X had me yelling in my basement with Kenpo X. This exercise uses marshal arts moves, like punches, blocks, and kicks for a great workout. My favorite part was for the last 5 reps in a set of movements Tony has you yell “HUT!” and double the speed. The yelling really pumps you up and is a good outlet of energy.
Overall, I can feel my core getting stronger from the all the P90X workouts this week. I am certainly not losing any weight yet but I can feel my muscles getting stronger underneath the flub. I am debating starting my own cardio routine. Has anyone out there tried to pair their own cardio routine with the P90X? If so I would love to hear about what success you have had with it. Or if you think the supplied workouts will provide enough cardio in the long to help me shed my fat quicker.

I can’t believe I am about to say this but… I got out of bed early today excited to start my P90X workout. Today was Legs and Back. What I like about the exercises is that they never repeat. I am the type of person who always likes new things. For instance when I go running or go for a bike ride I always pick a loop route because I do not like to go back the way I came. In this workout I never got bored once, always looking forward to trying new movements.
My favorite move today was sneaky lunges. They are lunges that you do on your tip toes and you stretch your arms into the air when you move forward. Because I am doing the workouts in a small space I did two forward and then turned around to do two back. I was thinking that it would be fun to do the lunges around a track so that you are always going forward.
Because today was resistance training it meant I need to do Ab Ripper X – the bane of my existence. This one is humbling folks! 25 reps of a barrage of challenging ab moves. I am really looking forward to the day when I can nail this one flawlessly. For the first time I used the yoga mat that I got from extremebodyworkout.com and this made things more comfortable, especially for the oblique raises where your hip is right on the ground.
I can’t wait to try Kenpo X tomorrow, it looks like a lot of fun.

1 and half hours of yoga will whip you real good. I have done some yoga in the past, and the most I ever went for was about 30mins. Let me repeat 1 1/2 hours of yoga. If you never have done yoga, it is not easy, and of course the P90X makes it even more extreme – they call it Yoga X. You really push your body in brand new ways. It is the opposite of heavy resistance lifting. Instead of quick movements of hard work, you stretch that out over a period of holding a pose for between 30-60 seconds. Yoga is the perfect combination between flexibility and strength. If you are not flexible, yoga will expose it. It certainly exposed me. This workout was very humbling, especially the first half.
The first part consisted of lots of downward dogs, the pose were you make your body into an upside down “V”. It caused me to sweat profusely. The second half was a lot of interesting balance poses and were difficult but not as strenuous. I had a hard time holding many of the poses for any extent of time. I have a long way to progress with this workout. I look forward to getting better at it over time. Through course of the next 90 days with the P90X I will do YOGA X 14 more times, so my hope is by the end I can follow along with Tony flawlessly.
