P90X Review Day 19: I think Tony has a little crush on Dreya Weber

P90X Day 19 - photo
Today was a solid P90X workout for me. I was challenged but I didn’t struggle or feel the need to skimp on reps or dog it. I added weight on the calf raises and went lower on lunges. Of course, I made sure to have eaten properly before hand so I didn’t run out of energy.

I want to make sure that people realize how important your eating is to success during the P90X workouts. On Monday I did not eat enough and did not have the energy to complete the workout. I have found that eating about 1 1/2 hours before the workout is ideal, and then to eat immediately after. You will stay strong and also not feel full.

By the way, it is getting hard for me to watch Tony Horton flirt with Dreya Weber on the DVDs. Dreya Weber, as I found out from the behind the scene P90X youtube videos, is a professional aerialist. She also appears on at least 2 of the workouts so far. Every time he introduces her he says how beautiful and gorgeous she is, to the point where you feel a little awkward, like he does not give the other people as much attention. And in one of the DVDs he even goes and give her a big hug during the ballistic cool down. Either way its sort of funny to watch all that going on when you are trying to workout. I think I am getting to the point where I can turn off the Commentary. The great thing is that the P90X lets you pick what type of audio you want, music on/off, commentary on/off, etc.

P90X Review Day 18: Expand your mind a little bit here people

P90X Day 18 - photo
Again, this is my favorite P90X workout. This workout really makes you sweat, and it weird because you are barely moving your body, it is as if you soul is sweating. :-). That is the amazing thing about Yoga is that you don’t feel like it should be giving you a workout, but by holding all the yoga poses you are really challenging your body in a totally new way. Normally we are used to the fast movements of weight training or plyometrics, but yoga is a whole new ball game. I think that why I like it so much, a great change of pace. What is also great is so far each week I can really see the progress. Each week I feel stronger and hold poses longer.

P90X Review Day 17: We’re gonna need a bigger weight

P90X Day 17 - photo
I am proud to say that I need to go out and buy bigger dumbbells. For the shoulder moves I was doing more than 20 reps with the 20lbs. So I will probably at the very least get 25lbs, and possibly 30’s. The stronger you get the more you have to spend on weights.

Joel over at http://p90xworkoutprogram.blogspot.com/ started the P90X and felt the same way I did on the first day - completely whipped. Its fun now that I am past that initial stage and feeling more a part of the P90X club. The first few days can be a little overwhelming. But once you get momentum going you find yourself on day 17. However, I still have an extremely long time to go it seems. I am not even a 1/4th of the way done yet. I can’t even imagine how I will feel or what I will look like on day 45 let alone day 90. I’ll keep the photos coming and keep bringing it. Talk to you all tomorrow after Yoga X - easily my favorite workout.

P90X Review Day 16: Jump, Jump, Jump, Jump

P90X Day 16 - photo
The official theme song of Plyo X should be House of Pain’s Jump Around. Both for the name of the band and the name of the song. Basically, take the 30 secs where you jump up and down in a dance club to the song (do they still play this at dance clubs?) and stretch that over an hour. Tony doesn’t kid that this is the mother of the P90X workouts. You get airborne on this one. I think I would actually perform better with the House of Pain beat playing in the background.

I did better today then yesterday (maybe because I actually remembered to eat). But also I remember feeling tired out in the first round of exercises last week, but this week I stayed strong until the very end. This is definitely an intense cardio workout. I got sweaty, and felt great. I hope to be even stronger on this one next week.

On another note: I am trying to get more people to see my blog so if you think that what I am doing here is of interest to others please put a link to my site on your website or blog! If you do I would be happy to trade a link back to your site. Just link to me, or if you want a link back write a comment with a link. Thank you! I want other people to see realtime results of the P90X.

P90X Review Day 15: Tank on Empty

P90X Day 15 - photo
I did not bring it today. When I started with Chest and Back I was feeling good. As I looked back on my previous two weeks I thought that I would be able to crush a lot of my rep numbers. But about 3 exercises into the workout I wasn’t even coming close to my numbers from the very first day of using the P90X. As I kept going I just felt like my tank was on empty. I realized that I had woken up late and had only had one meal - a bowl of cereal. At first, I was very frustrated that I wasn’t obliterating my previous progress. I would like to the think that I have gotten much stronger in the last 14 days, not weaker.

Has anyone else experienced a significant decrease in results from not having eaten enough. Do you think that it was because I didn’t have a enough fuel? Or could it be that my muscles are just fatigued from the P90X so far? Anyone else who has experienced could you give me some feedback?

At least, for now on I will make sure to be aware of my food intake and not exercise without having the proper fuel.

P90X Review Day 14: And P90X rested on the 14th day

P90X Day 14 - photo
I must admit that I skipped doing Stretch X today. This whole week has been RA training which has absolutely tired me out. I feel like taking a day off wasn’t such a bad idea. I still need to catch up on a lot of sleep. I will be ready to keep the P90X workouts going tomorrow. Chest and Back.

The cool thing is I can feel my abdominal muscles firming up beneath the skin on my belly. Also, I am beginning to make some vague shadows of veins on my arms.

Wow, two weeks in. Keep Bringing it!

P90X Review Day 13: Team Sports

P90X Day 13 - photo
I have to admit to everyone that I committed a P90X taboo and skipped Kenpo X today. This is because I spent three hours playing team sports as part of my RA training. I did sweat really hard and my legs feel sore so I think I can let me self get away with it. The great thing is that this was the first time playing a sport since starting the P90X, and my heart never felt so good. I played 5 on 5 full court basketball. In the past I would get wiped out pretty quickly and start dogging it. But not today, I chased down every fast break and felt great. Thank you P90X.

Also, as a side note. I just got the P90X yoga mat from extremebodyworkout.com and it much better then the nike one that I had been using. The mat really makes things easier during the P90X workouts especially for Yoga X and Ab Ripper.
